Not all the roads are wide. The roads in suburbs and towns are sometimes narrow, very narrow in country sides. In city centers they're much wider because they have 3, sometimes 4 lanes because they're busier. And the motor ways have 4 lanes on each direction the traffic flows so they have to be wider to accommodate the vehicles.
