You can you just to complete certain objectives: Beat the elite four in ruby, beat the elite four and get the national dex and deliver the ruby and sapphire to celio in leafgreen then at anytime go upstairs in any Pokemon center hook up a GBA to GBA cable to your GBA or GBASP's and talk to the lady behind the middle counter (for ruby) and the far right counter (for leafgreen) choose trade center for leafgreen ruby will automatically be there save the game and confirm the link with the A button and you will be in the trade center.
