First, there are two ways of classifying hotels that would be most popular: Diamonds, which are given out annually by AAA and Stars which are given out annually by Mobil. Each of these companies publishes a guide which their members use. When traveling to a particular place, these ratings reassure the consumer to the level of service and caiber of hotel they see in the guide. These two companies are most trusted and send in their people under cover to test hotels and rate each one of them according to their standards set forth. 5 Diamonds would be the highest AAA rated hotel and 5 Stars would be the highest rated Mobil hotel. Some consumers only stay at the highest rated hotels and adhere strictly to the guides set forth by these companies and the raings in those guides. This means substantial business for a hotel when they reach such a rating.
