After the embargo between the United States and Cuba occured. Fidel Castro the leader of Cuba entered relations with Krushchev who had previously said he would "crush the untied states". He imported Russian nuclear weapons into Cuba enabling them to strike anywhere in the US thus creating an immediate threat to the United States.
