Adiabatic compression occurs when a precisely controlled mixture of a flammable gas and oxygen are ignited by the heat of colliding molecules during the compression of said gas. This causes an explosion and the explosion causes an expansion of the gasses. These expanding gasses must force their way out of confinement and pushes a piston. This turns tirns a crank shaft which will mechanically open and close intake and exhaust valves through push rods.

Why is combustion exothermic reaction?

because during combustion heat energy is released. for example the burning of carbon in air is a combustion reaction but in this process 393.7 K.J/mol energy is released

How is combustion made?

To combustion is to undergo combustion. Combustion is a process in which a substance reacts with oxygen to give heat and light. What are always the two products of a combustion reaction?A combustion reaction is when all substances in a compound are combined with oxygen, which then produces carbon dioxide and water.

In what type of reaction is water always a product?

In hydrolysis reactions, water is always a product. Hydrolysis involves breaking a compound apart by adding a molecule of water.

Which element is always a reactant in a combustion reaction?

Every combustion reaction we deal with produces gas with oxygen in the product, so O2 (oxygen gas) must be a reactant. For example, methane reacts with Oxygen in this way: CH4(l) + O2(g) -> C02(g)+2H2(g) Note O2 in gaseous form as a reactant.

Why does adiabatic expansion of a gas always produce cooling?

During adiabatic expansion, a gas expands without gaining or losing heat to its surroundings. This causes the gas to do work on its surroundings, which in turn lowers the internal energy of the gas. Since temperature is directly related to the internal energy of a gas, the temperature of the gas decreases during adiabatic expansion, resulting in cooling.

Is always a reactants in a combustion reaction?

Is theoretical compression ratio equal to actual compression ratio for an SI engine?

No, because there is always some leakage.

Will a blown head gasket always lower compression?

95% of the time yes, but not always.

What is 283 powerpack heads?

283 Powerpack heads have smaller combustion chambers, what gives a 9.25:1 compression ratio with flat top pistons. Powepack heads were always used with a ur barrel carburetor. It was an option that started with the 55-57 Chevys.
