What is the conditions of steam velocity while flow through steam nozzle?

Nozzles are designed to increase the steam velocity.

What is a steam turbine?

It is an engine.A steam turbine is a heat engine that uses the expansion of steam passing through stationary nozzles and blades on a shaft to turn the shaft. The steam can move through the turbine axially (one end of shaft to the other end), radially (shaft to outer casing), or tangentially (around the outer edges of the turbine wheel). In an impulse turbine, the steam is expanded in nozzles and pushes the blades. In a reaction turbine the steam is expanded in the nozzles AND in the blades, the reaction of the expansion of the steam pushes away from the blades spinning the wheel in the process. The expansion of the steam is necessary to increase its velocity through the turbine.

What is turbine windage protection?

when steam flow blockage occured in steam turbine due to damage of blades/nozzles than steam temperature will increase so protect the turbine from high temperature this protection is introduced.

Why is it necessary to open casing drains and drains on the steam line going to the turbine when a turbine is to be started?

To avoid slugging nozzles and blades inside the turbine with condensate on start-up; this can break these components from impact. The blades were designed to handle steam, not water.

What were steam engine powers used for?

steam engine powers are used for the transport application in the early days. Later modified versions of the steam engines are used also for the electrical energy generation.

What are ejector nozzles used for?

Ejector nozzles are used in jet engines. They are the simpler of the nozzles used and are more conventional that iris nozzles. Ejector nozzles are part of a group that includes ejector, iris, rocket, and low-ratio nozzles.

What is steam turbine governor valve?

In large turbines, a valve controls steam flow to groups of nozzles. The number of open valves controls the number of nozzles in use according to the load. A bar-lift or cam arrangement operated by the governor opens and closes these valves in sequence. Such a device is a multi-port valve. Using nozzles at full steam pressure is more efficient than throttling the steam.

Are steam shower nozzles supposed to drip water?

Yes. The drips are caused by steam hitting a cooler surface and condensing back into liquid water.

How does a terry turbine work?

Terry was the name of a steam turbine manufacturer. The company was bought by Dresser-Rand some years ago. I don't think they sell this model now, only spare parts. The basic design is that of an impulse turbine (as opposed to a reaction turbine). The unique feature with Terry is the nozzles feed steam radially inward to a single rotating wheel with blading on the circumference. The blades are semi-circular so the flow path is spiral between the blades and the stationary nozzles. They are arranged in sets of an inlet nozzle with 4 or 5 reversing nozzles before the spent steam is exhausted. The number of nozzle sets depends on the steam rate.

What are WindJet compressed air nozzles used for?

WindJet compressed air nozzles are used for quiet, controlled, efficient, and flat distribution of compressed air. There are several sizes and shapes available.

What are popular hose nozzles used in commercial gardens?

If one is looking to purchase popular hose nozzles used in commercial gardens, one would look for makers such as Legacy, Dramm, Gilmore and Nelson. All of the companies offer popular and well built hose nozzles.

Are diesel fuel nozzles bigger than gasoline nozzles?

There are two points of view: for cars or trucks. Diesel nozzles for trucks are bigger than gasoline nozzles for cars. On the other side, there are diesel nozzles for cars.... Between diesel nozzles for cars and gasoline nozzles for cars, the difference is the spout of the nozzle. For diesel it is 15/16" dia. And for gasoline it is 13/16" dia.
