They are trained so that they can interpret messy and quick handwriting, preferably those of docters.

Actually, most anyone could understand the doctor's handwriting if you know medical terminology and abbreviations - the trick is figuring out which one they're trying to write. Often, a pharmacist has to contact the doctor and ask!

How can you understand your antenatal notes?

It is an old joke that doctors' handwriting is unreadable, and as pregnancy is full of jargon as well even other doctors sometimes have difficulty. The best person to explain the notes is the person who wrote them, ASK. Just say "please could you explain what you wrote here?" And by the way it is antEnatal (before birth) not antI natal (against birth) In America usually prenatal.

Why nobody could understand handwriting of Leonardo Da Vinci?

His handwriting was backwards a lot, because he was left-handed. It can only be easily read with a mirror. Nobody could understand what Leonardo da Vinci was writting because he wrote in mirror image. In order to read it you would need to be able to read French and be looking into a mirror. Da Vinci did this because he didn't want other people stealing what he discovered. This way he could take the credit for what he did.

Why doctors have bad penmanship?

Because doctors think their time is more important than anyone else's. This includes the time the pharmacist has to waste trying to interpret their indecipherable scrawl and the time it takes the paramedics to resuscitate you when you take 100 times the dosage of the medicine you were actually prescribed if only someone could read the doctor's handwriting.

Is it true that all geniuses have poor writing?

This will depend on an individual's definition of "genius" but it is doubtful. There is a stereotype that doctors all have bad handwriting, for example, but that is not true (and some people would argue that they are intelligent but not necessarily geniuses). There have been many brilliant people throughout history who have had fairly good handwriting. In addition, the standards of handwriting have changed drastically through the years. Many, many years ago, you used to be considered extremely intelligent if you could write at all! There have also been different styles of writing (think of cursive versus print) and those affect handwriting as well. In short, some people who are geniuses may not have the most attractive handwriting but most of the time it is passable. Having bad handwriting is neither necessary nor sufficient for genius. An interesting exception is Leonardo da Vinci, who wrote with "mirror writing" (where he literally wrote so it could only be read in a mirror).
