Scribos ~ Latin for write
There were things called Royal Scribes that were the pharoah's personal scribe (if they were the top royal scribe;there were many). But there were also many scribes that had nothing to do with the government of Ancient Egypt.
They were treated with great respect. Since they were they only ones who could read and write they were very important people. They never lacked food or water.
It would take about twelve years to be trained as a scribe. Only one person in a hundred could read or write back then. Scribes were needed to be the accountants of their day. They recorded food coming in to the graneries. They calculated how much food and supplies were needed for government projects and tomb building. They could be hired to write reports and letters for those who did not know how to do such things. Scribes not only did the writing. They made the papyrus.
This was because at the time scribes were the only people educated enough to read and write giving them special status in society.

The scries could read and write, but rich people could learn to read a write aswell.

Scribes are people who write things down. They could be keeping records of anything that it was important to write down.

They documented happenings and political decisions. They kept records of workers and purcheses. They documented briths and deaths. They were the only people who could read and write.
They could write others couldn’t.
Scribes are important because they could write for people who can't (because of injuries) and the people who don't know how.
