A better solution, since the dreamer is able to make decisions within the dream, would be to stop running, confront the "killer" and demand to know what/whom the killer represents. Then the dreamer could choose to shrink the "killer" down to a non-threatening size and kick it away. Ultimately, the dreamer needs to figure out what the "killer" represents and stop avoiding that problem in real life.
