Yes, exercise does help with depression. It releases chemicals in your body that your brain needs and stimulates a happy nerve.
I cannot say as to how I would value such a tests. Taking one would be by your choice but I would feel better taking such a test to a professional doctor for discussion. This is something that should be personally be taken up with a professional familiar with depression and who could provide the proper treatment and meds for you.

Yes, they are the same. Severe depression is also called "major" depression. The differentiation is with bipolar depression. That depression is the depressive cycle of the illness. Clinical depression is more prevalent in women. While there is no research-based reason for this, in my opinion it is because research has shown that women are more emotional than are men.
