Having understood that the blessing of the golden touch was in reality a curse, Midas begged Dionysus to rid him of it. The god advised him to bathe in the river Pactolus, which took over his power and thus became rich in gold. Afterwards Midas, who now hated wealth and splendor, went to live in the country and became a worshiper of Pan, god of the fields.
Dionysus granted him one wish, so that's what he wished for. Dionysus gave it to him with no strings attatched, but it really turned out to be a curse. He ended up turning his food and everything he didn't want turned into gold, turned to gold.
Athena is the ruler of ancient city-state Athens. It's only one of her achievements. Poseidon and Athena both wanted a city. They decided to give a gift ( one each ) and the people will select the one they want. Poseidon gave a spring of salt water. Athena gave a olive tree, which gave wood, oil and olives. The people chose Athena's gift and she named the city Athens, a mix of her name.
I'm not sure who came up with the term, but it was coined to describe the act of taking a gift you've received (usually something you don't like, don't want, or can't use) and giving it to someone else--and this is always done without telling the new recipient where the gift really came from. I have seen the term on etiquette web sites, and for good reason--sometimes the regifter gives the gift back to the person who gave it to them, usually unintentionally; regifters have also given gifts to recipients who know the origin of the gift, usually something the regifter isn't aware of. I don't know if the term originated on an etiquette site, however.
I think good gift to give is a gift card that way the person can get what they want
Firstly, I want to point out that Midas was not a god, but a human king. He was granted a wish by the god Bacchus, roman god of wine. He wished for everything he touched to be turned to gold. And everything did, including anything he tried to drink or eat, and even his own children when they tried to hug him. It is a story to show that greed (or materialism) does not make you happy.
Whenever you want.
to give gifts just get out the gift you want to give then talk to the person you want to give it to!they will take it
give £50,000 and you can have it!!! xx
It can be right but as we do not really know the preference of the person we want to give it to, it would be better to give him or her a gift card so he/she can buy what they really want or like.
If you want to but, I would not.
Gift certificates are not too impersonal to give for a birthday gift. They allow the recipient to buy what they really want.
it is thairs they can do whatever they want to do with it!!
a winning example
Anae He Koha
Whatever you want to give.
