It is most likely that Johann Beethoven died of alcohol poisoning, since he had an unhealthy addiction to drinking.
Johann was an unpleasant man; he was cruel to his son, and made him play piano late at night (or early in the morning, you might say). Johann had seven children with his wife, but only three survived, with Ludwig Beethoven being the oldest.
It's not really known why Johann Beethoven died, but the most possible assumption would be alcohol poisoning to the liver, or old age.
