cos to drag boo into the limelight would be like 'killin a mockingbird' - he is devoid of social skills as he has not left the house - he was saving children from death so he does not deserve to go to jail - plus doin them all a favour - and if the community found out they wudnt leave him alone - thanking him and criticising probably in equal measure - typical of maycomb

Bob Ewell was killed with a knife. He was killed by Boo Radley in self-defense while trying to harm Scout and Jem as revenge for the trial where his daughter Mayella falsely accused Tom Robinson of assault.

He was humiliated by Atticus in the court case when he told Bob Ewell to write his signature. Atticus noticed that Bob Ewell writes with his left hand and Mayella Ewell had bruises coming from a left-handed person. So it was clear that Bob Ewell did it and Atticus discovered this.

In the book, To Kill a Mockingbird, the sheriff doesn't want to prosecute Bob Ewell's killer because he says it would be like killing a mockingbird. The killer was a man named Boo, who spent all of his time in his house. What he actually did was to protect the town's children by killing Bob Ewell, so the sheriff thought it would serve no good purpose to prosecute him.

Yes. It appears that Arthur Radley actually kills Bob, but the authorities just describe it as "Bob fell on his own knife" for the better of the entire town.
