being that Canadas population had changed from an English Protestant majority to a roman catholic majority, Canadas catholic leaders may have felt that the Union Jack no longer represented the country.

The flag has a large red maple leaf on it. That is because Canada has lots of maple trees. The maple tree is also the national tree of Canada too, i think. As for the color red... I don`t know.

Canada separated from Great-Britain in the 1930s. The old flag still had the Union Jack.

We didn't want the Union Jack.

We got rid of the Union Jack.
