This is why when Columbus landed in the New World, he called the Native Americans he found "Indians".
Columbus was looking for a "passage to India".
Chistopher Columbus took 4 trips
columbus
Columbus never would have arrived in India. This is because the route he set was heading straight for the Bahamas. What he needed to have done was head South in his path, but his path was actually West.

India and China for primarily spices. This is why in the United States Native Americans are referred to as "Indians." Columbus thought thought he landed on an Island off the coast of India.
wanted to get spices silks and minerals from India or Asia
Yes and mostly no. He thought the world was round and he could get to India faster by sailing East instead of West. People had known they could get to India by sailing West, nobody had tried to get to India by sailing East. Columbus did show that you could get somewhere by sailing East. He did not reach India of course, he only got as far as the Caribbean Sea. He did not really find a shorter route to India, so Columbus did not find what he was really looking for.
India
America but he thought it was India
Christopher Columbus found India Asia (aka: southwest Asia.)
Hopefully he would find India.
Yes, which would have confirmed his belief in a shorter trade route to "The East" :(
