Why did they cancel Danny Phantom?

Danny Phantom was canceled because it was losing popularity and because Nick needed to make room for new shows. You can still see Danny phantom regularly on Nicktoons Network.

They canceled Danny Phantom because Nickelodeon thought it was a really bad show. They told the producers of Danny Phantom in the year 2006 and it ended on 2007 with Phantom Planet. I'm sad too :( But Phantom Planet was pretty hakin' awesome! ;D

This is what happened to Danny Phantom: In 2004, Nickelodeon started the series "Danny Phantom". Over 2 years, the producers decided that Danny Phantom didn't have enough viewers. In 2007, the movie "Phantom Planet" viewed and the series was canceled.:(

I've actually read that the producer of Danny Phantom was overspending his budget, so they then had to cancel the show.
Right after Nick renewed Butch for a two year contract he started overspending the budget. First he switched to a much more expensive form of animation that was costing almost double what the old animation cost.

Then he started hiring voice actors without Nick's consent.

Then when Reign Storm was put in production he over spent the budget by over 20,000 dollars

He asked the executives for 2 million dollars for advertising Ultimate Enemy. They gave him the money on the grounds that it would take in over 5 million in the GBA game and Burger King toys. But after paying royalties to THQ and Burger King Nick only made under 50,000. Nick was getting fed up with DP costing so much so they said if BH got merchandising rights he could continue the show. He tried several companies, but word had got around of DP's marketing failure so they all turned him down.

Nick couldn't get him out of his contract so they agreed to let him finish seasons 2 and 3. But they stopped airing episodes frequently and gave it little to no airtime unless there was money invested.

And that is the reason Danny Phantom was cancelled.

And if you are wondering why FOP was renewed, its because they use an incredibly cheap form of animation that costs less than 1/4th of what DP costs and FOP makes millions in merchandise.

And Butch Hartman only worked on ONE Season 3 episode!!!!

In January 24, 2006, Butch Hartman announced the decision made by Nickelodeon to cancel the production of Danny Phantom, giving the show 53 episodes in three seasons. The dedicated fans of the program as a result fought to keep the show and produce more episodes. They produced mottos, such as "Save the ghost we love the most!", had dozens of requests signed, and sent hundreds of letters, as well as voice for more merchandise of Danny Phantom, all in an order to convince Nickelodeon that the program is sufficient enough to justify more episodes. In July 2006 a rally was held near Viacom's Offices in New York City to try to save the program. Another rally is planned for 2007.

Despite these protests, the production of Danny Phantom finished in February 2007, with no plans for future episodes.

I'm literally crying because I love Danny Phantom! Call me a dork, but I think he's awesome. I'm so sad that the show ended!!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

they shouldn't cancel Danny Phantom. Danny Phantom was one of the best shows that ever aired on nick. If they ever cancel a show, they need to cancel Chalkzone, Rocket Power or As Told By Ginger.

well that's not fair because all of those shows are great i think they should cancel rocket power but chalk zone and as told by ginger are great cause as told by ginger was wise . and chalk zone was a fun imagary place we see i love all of them and they havent cancelled Danny phantom it still comes on, on nick toons.

Yeah they have new episodes as well

They weren't attracting the viewers they were expecting. They were getting more older kids watching it then they were younger kids, and some parents thought it was too extreme for 8-year-olds and such.
