For Christians, Easter is the celebration of the final week of the life of the Savior, Jesus Christ. It is more than a historical event, but a spiritual reminder of the atonement of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
On the Sunday before Easter, they observe Palm Sunday. When Christ rode into town on a mule, it was one of the first times He was recognized by a large body of people as the king of the Jews. In respect and reverence for His arrival, they placed palm leaves in His path as He entered the city.
Good Friday is remembered as they day Christ plead with His Father in Heaven at the garden of Gethsemane, was betrayed by one of His disciples, and was eventually crucified as He hung on a cross. He was willing to give His life as a sacrifice for the sins of the repentant person. As the Jewish Sabbath started Friday evening, and continued through Saturday evening, Jesus body was laid in a tomb in haste. A stone rolled in front of the door was guarded by soldiers to keep the believers from taking the body.
Early on the 3rd day, Sunday morning, when plans were made to dress the body with spices, the tomb was found empty. Jesus was resurrected. His body and His spirit were reunited, never to be separated again. He showed Himself to His disciples, letting them feel the wounds the nails left when he was hung on the cross. Sunday was called the Lord's Day to help His followers remember what He has done for them. Easter Sunday is the day Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Because the Roman church incorporated pagan traditions (traceable to Ancient Babylon and Egypt) into their new church to help grow it. There is nothing biblical with Easter as Christ died on Passover and rose on the 1st Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread:
Last Supper - Passover night (our Tuesday), 25 April 31 AD, 4th Passover as Sir Isaac newton first postulated
Crucifixion - Passover day (our Wednesday) 25 April 31 AD, just before sunset and start of High Annual Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread
Resurrection - Saturday Sabbath, 28 April 31 AD, just before sunset and start of first day - Sunday. Jesus ascends to the Father as the 'wave sheaf' offering for mankinds' sins
Sunday 29 April 31 AD, Jesus presents Himself as our Wave Sheaf offering for all humankind found acceptable by the Father
Ascension - Thursday, 10 June 31 AD or 40 days after the Resurrection awaiting Holy Spirit
NT Church - Pentecost Sunday (50 days after resurrection Saturday), 17 Jun 31 AD and release of God's Holy Spirit to all He chooses (see John 6:44; 65).
Try as we humans will, there is no way possible to come to the full 72 hours or 3 days/nights with an afternoon death on 'Good Friday' and an early Sunday morning (still dark out) resurrection. Further the Church still has Pentecost Sunday (correctly) but it is not 50 days (Pentecost means 50) from Jesus' resurrection on the Sabbath (Saturday).
Easter Started when the followers of Jesus Christ began to honor the day of his Reserection from the grave after being killed on a Friday.
