Answer
Elizabeth 1 never married because she was married to her country and she had many lovers. She didn't want a king because she didn't want to change her religion. Also because she didn't want a king to come and steal all her power. The kings that she had to marry were catholic or they didn't have enough money or there were rumours about one of them killing his wife. And Elizabeth was also because she had a fear for childbirth, which claimed the lives of a significant number of women in the period.
NOTE:
Elizabeth I promoted her virginity as The Virgin Queen. She did not have lovers, although she was said to be in love with Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester.
For more about why she possibly chose to remain unmarried, see the related question further down this page.
Although everyone assumed Elizabeth would marry and produce an heir to the English throne, she remained a "Virgin Queen." Despite her many suitors, including King Phillip II of Spain and Robert Dudley, she remained unmarried and childless. By gaining the support of her male constituents and levering the Tudor concept of firm rule, Elizabeth I was triumphant in preventing the outbreak of civil and religious war within the boundaries of England. This is noted as one of the primary reasons she did not marry. Queen Elizabeth I claimed that she did not get married because she wanted to devote her life to ruling the country. She is often called "the virgin queen" but this is unlikely, considering her many romances.
at the time she was considered old and as most people married young she felt she had missed her chance.
Because she did not want to, and whenever anyone asked why, she simply replied 'I am married to the country'
