As far as I know, the only thing he wrote in English was the great oratorio "Elijah".
However, he was a very popular composer in England and after his death, in the mid 1850s, WH Cummings adapted an extract from Mendelssohn's "Festgesang" to the words of a carol written by Charles Wesley in 1739 : Hark! the herald angels sing Glory".
Charles Wesley wrote the words and the most popular tune for it was composed by Felix Mendelssohn.
