In 1868 Atlanta city officials made a bid for Atlanta to be named as the state capital. Atlanta offered suitable buildings for state officials at no charge for ten years. Atlanta also offered land in the city for a state capitol. In view of Atlanta's recent population growth, better rail accessibility, and the offer of land and buildings, the Georgia constitutional convention voted to accept the offer and move the capital city from Milledgeville to Atlanta.

What is the greatest diner in Georgia?

For Georgia, it is usually the diner in your own hometown that's the best. However to pick just one, the Marietta Diner (North Atlanta) seems to be best known with a really good reputation. They received the 2014 Certificate of Excellence. Of course there are folks in Duluth (East Atlanta) who would say that the Georgia Diner was the best. I always favored the one in Augusta, but it's gone now. And don't get me started about the little hole-in-the-wall diners in South Georgia -- YUM!
