Why did God create humans and where in the Bible does he say our purpose in life trying to answer an atheists question.?

It does not seem possible to answer a question that, on the one hand says that it is an atheist's question, but on the other hand asks why God created humans.

If you mean: "Why do some people believe that God created humans?" you should enter this as your question.

Answer:

God created humans "in His image" for the same reason our fathers created us in their image -- to make a family.

"He that overcometh [the sins and pulls of the flesh] shall inherit all things [the universe]; and I will be his God, and he shall be My SON." (Rev.21:7)

"The [Holy] Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF GOD: and if Children, the Heirs; HEIRS OF GOD, and JOINT-HEIRS WITH CHRIST; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together." (Rom.8:16-17)

"Both the One who makes men holy and those who are made holy are OF THE SAME FAMILY. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers." (Heb.2:11 NIV)

And like any normal father, anywhere... God wants His Children to "behave themselves" and "respect and obey Him"... as well as others.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: FEAR GOD, and KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS: for this is the whole duty of man." (Eccle.12:13)

Because the kids know that if they don't behave -- eventually... dad's coming home from work and will take stock of the goings-on while he was away.

"For God shall bring every work into Judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil." (verse 14)

As for the atheist whose questions you're attempting to answer, as to our purpose in life; just answer as The Bible states it.

Our purpose is to become the best Children we can possibly be, of which God will be proud to call His. And that means, we humans need to learn to love and respect one another. That's what God is teaching man, now.

Mankind's chosen god [the god of this world - see Genesis chapter 3] has been teaching man evil. God's Commandments are His guideline for being good.

Each of us has a choice to make in our lives as to which way we will behave ourselves.

It was never man's choice to decide what's good or evil. God has told us what is good. Our choice is only to obey or disobey Him.

"He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God." (Micah 6:8)

Does any father expect less of his children?

A father prepares his children to go out on their own in the world, to make a good life for themselves. The Father in heaven is preparing His Children to inherit Eternity... the universe... and to create life on new worlds.
