God had made a promise to Abraham, to give his offspring a 'Promised Land'.

God has the right to give someone any piece of land that he wishes to give them.

Whoever resides there, must respect God's right to parcel out the earth.

When Abraham's descendants (the Israelites) arrived to take possession of their Promised Land, the Philistines were not about to move. Instead they fought God's people. This is not good.

The Philistines disrespected God's decision regarding who is assigned to that portion of land. They could have relinquished the land; and moved back from whence they came from (namely Crete). Because they didn't move; and because they fought God's people, it would not turn out good for them, because Almighty God is much stronger than they were. Therefore God saw to it that they were forcibly removed; or eradicated from the land.

Why does Sampson fight the Philistines?

Samson was a Nazirite from birth; consecrated to God. The Lord used him to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines; God empowered him with supernatural strength to commence Israel's deliverance from the Philistines.

How did God use Samson to kill many more Philistines?

God raised up Samson from the womb as a Nazirite to begin the deliverance of Israel from the Philistines. It was only a beginning as the Israelites and the Philistines fought for many years. God gave Samson great physical strength to fight against the Philistines and he alone killed thousands.

Where did samson kill philistines?

Samson lived in the latter part of the time of the judges. Samson was a judge. (not a judge like we have today, but a judge in that time period delivered Israel out of the hand of their enemies and brought them closer to God.) We are told in Judges 16:4b "....... that He (God) was seeking an occasion to move against the Philistines. For at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel". God raised up Samson to incite war against the Philistines. The Philistines had taken over parts of Israel and were treating the people very badly. God wanted this to stop. Samson was the first Judge to encounter the Philistines. It was not until the time of David that the Philistines were defeated badly enough to stop being a power against Israel. Samson's basic area of war against the Philistines was Zorah, which was in the territory of the Tribe of Dan. If you will recall it was David as a lad before he became King who took his sling and 5 smooth pebbles (Rocks) and put one between the eyes of Goliath who was a mercenary of the Philistines.

What does stirring the mulberries mean?

The defeat of the Philistines by King David is recounted in II Samuel 5:23,24 where David is told by God not to attack the Philistines until there was a stirring in the tops of the mulberry trees. This was the sign that God was with him and would fight for him.

When the philistines attacked judah who helped them?

It was the Lord God of Israel who helped the Philistines when they attacked Judah. Judah was in Israel at that time, and when the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord and served other Gods, the Lord was angry against Israel and sold them into the hands of the Philistines. (Judges 10,6,7)
