AnswerBecause Harold the night night before had got drunk all night and didn't get that much sleep for Harold that it would of been a NO SLEEPING NIGHT.Yes, that is true. Also, because he was being invaded by more than one different parties, he didn't know which bit of England to defend first. A mistake he made was marching his whole army down to the South of England (William threatened to invade there) when William didn't show up for a while. Meanwhile, Harald Hardraada had invaded up in the North; hence Harold and his tired men marching all the way up to the North to fight off Harald. In my opinion, Harold should have split his men into two so they could warn each other when they were under attack.

Well after Edward the confessor died there were 3 people who thought that they should be king as he did not have any children to reign. Harold Godwinson, Harald Hardraada and William of Normandy (becomes William the Conqueror). Harold Godwinson crowned himself about 3 days after Edward the Confessor died. Then the 2 other men fought. First Harald Hardraada and Harold Godwinson (he won this battle) and it was called the Battle of Standford Bridge. Then Harold Godwinson and William of Normandy and William won. That battle was called the battle of Hastings as it was down south in Hastings. Then when William won he crowned himself on Christmas day! He then became William the Conqueror! Hope this helped!
