it was made by humphry davy, then Joseph Swan improved and then Thomas Edison improved it
he 1st light bulb was built by Humphry Davy (an Englishman) in 1809. Thomas Alva Edison improved the invention and based his improvements on a patent he purchased from inventors Henry Woodward & Matthew Evans who patented their bulb in 1875 people actually say he invented the light bulb at his house in the toilet in his booty!
77 years old
Yes there was, more specifically it was made in 1800 by Humphry Davy. However later on Thomas Edison was experimenting with a great amount of filaments and found that the best one was a carbon filament. That light bulb would last over 1500 hours, compared to the previous 40.
The history of the light bulb is a long one, with many people involved. The first person to actually put the light inside a vacuum tube may be Warren de la Rue, a British Scientist in 1840. There are other people that were developing a light before this, and at the same time, but for that specific thing, he seems to be the first. So, the answer would be 1840 in England. If it is just an incandescent light at all (no bulb), then it would be 1802 in London by Humphry Davy. Thomas Edison comes into the picture much later in Menlo Park (in New Jersey) in 1878, when he worked at improving electric light bulbs into something that would last long enough to be useful in more practical situations.
