There is a myth that American Indians believe that when a dog has two different eye colors they can see or be close to both the physical and spiritual world. However, there is no documentation of this belief, and in fact, it is thought to be a non-native story made up to romanticize the Indian.
Dogs were probably originally tamed in Asia, long before the Indians came to North America. In other words, the Indians didn't tame dogs or wolves that were already here--wolves were already here, but dogs came with the Indians.

Firstly, you can't just generalize all "asians". The entire continent is too vast, and contains over 1/2 the world's population. It is only eaten in a few places like China, Vietnam, Korea, and Indonesia. The reason why several Asians do eat dogs is because: 1. The practise was started in times of starvation. 2. Dogs are not exclusively viewed as pets in those countries. The situation is similar to why we eat cattle, while Indians consider them sacred.
