Newton did not discover gravity. He realized that the same force, gravitational force, that acts on all things here on earth go thru space and act on the moon to keep it in orbit. The same for the planets revolving around the sun.

He was sitting under an apple tree in Woolsthorpe. He was supposed to be in college but the Bubonic Plague, or the Black Death, reached London and Cambridge evacuated it's students because they were afraid that Plague could reach the students. When he was under the apple tree, an apple fell on his head, and he wondered why the apple fell. That's how Isaac newton discovered Gravity.

He was under an apple tree one day,suddenly an apple fell down and he started thinking of a reason why apple fell down and not go up,from his thinking he deduced that their must be a force pulling that apple down in which the force gravitational force,
