∙ 14y agoSome think that Jesus chose 4 men from three different areas of Judaism. Pharisees, Sadducees and Zealots. Essene was not represented in the 12 but John the Baptist was an orphan and raised by Essene monks.
Peter was Pharisee
Judas was Zealot.
You can get the idea of the sects by these two men. Zealots wanted the immediate overthrow of the Roman government while Pharisees wanted understanding.
