Jesus died on the cross for two reasons. 1) so we would be forgiven 2) So we could have eternal life with him b/c the punishment of sin is death. Jesus is the perfect lamb so we don't have to sacrifice anymore animals.

∙ 11y agoBecause someone had to be punished for our sin. When God created the world, it was perfect, and when he created Adam and Eve, they were perfect, but then they sinned. Since God is a good god, he cannot have sin in heaven, so He sent Jesus into the world to live a perfect life, and then God crucified Jesus instead of us. This provided a way for us to go to heaven to be with God when we die. So, if we believe that Jesus did this for us, and admit that we have sinned and try to live for Jesus, God will forgive our sins. When he looks at our records, He will see Jesus' perfect record in our place :)
