Why did Jesus mean by salvation?

From the gospels we can see that by salvation Jesus meant escaping the judgment of God: John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.

Jesus did not say a lot about salvation because Jesus primarily came to Israel to call them to repent: Matthew 15:24 But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." So most of Jesus' teaching was to Israel calling them to repent and turn to God.

However Jesus did say some things about the way of salvation. For example Jesus said to His disciples: John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Because salvation is based on the death of Jesus as a sacrifice for sin. It seems that Jesus did not expound on this until after His resurrection. Jesus' disciples were confused and didn't know what was happening when Jesus was crucified. Probably in the days after His resurrection Jesus explained fully the meaning of His death as the lamb of God, a sacrifice for sin.

Acts 1:3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
