16th-century author Sir John Harrington. Harrington was an author and in 1596, he wrote an article named "Plan Plots of a Privy of Perfection." In this article, he described his idea of a flush toilet. Queen Elizabeth I was so impressed by his idea that she asked Harrington to install one in the Royal Palace. The first patent for a flush toilet was issued to Alexander Cummings, a watchmaker in 1775.
The writer John Harington (or Harrington, 1561-1612) designed the flush toilet called the Ajax in 1596, in an effort to replace the system of chamberpots (which had to be moved by servants to far from the bedchambers after use). His godmother, Queen Elizabeth I, was reported to have found the system too noisy in use.
The Flush Toilet was invented by Sir John Harrington back in 1569 which was during the Renaissance Period, But his idea was not taken seriously and people laughed at him. Only his grand mother and him used it.
