Martin Luther believed that the Catholic Church was sending out the wrong message through their interpretation of The Bible. He also believed it was unfair to the vast majority of Germans that didn't read Latin. In turn, he translated the Bible into German so that people would be able to interpret the Bible for themselves.

Catholic AnswerMartin Luther did not change the Church, he left it. The why was because of his personal sin, he violated all of his voluntary vows, and most of the demands of Christ for morality, particularly when it came to sex and alcohol. Thus he made his own Church up that demanded less of him.
