Why did Michael Jackson name his daughter Paris?

According to Debbie Rowe, Paris was named Paris because that is where she was conceived. However, lately, just after the death of Michael Jackson, it had been reported that apparently Paris was named after Paris Hilton and that was because Michael Jackson and Paris Hilton's Mother were very old friends . Paris Hilton had supposedly told this to a British Tabloid, which also reported that Michael Jackson telephoned Paris Hilton's mother to ask permission to name his daughter after Paris Hilton she said he liked her name. My personal view is that the mother of the child should know how her daughter got her name. I am not a Debbie Rowe fan by any means but I would rather believe Ms Rowe, than Paris Hilton who would do anything to get her name in the papers, where as Debbie Rowe does not like media attention.
