Well, the magazine Vanity Fair asked Miley to and she said yes not knowing the trouble that would begin because of the misinterpretation. Apparently they did it at that photoshoot but remember, she is a teenage girl and her parents weren't at the set when the photo was taken (neither was her manager) so she and her family should not be blamed for the misinterpretation of the photo. Miley said in an interview that she didn't know people would see the photo like that she saw it as an artistic and beautiful shot along with her parents.

The photographer of the picture released a statement talking about th picture:

"I'm sorry that my portrait of Miley has been misinterpreted. The photograph is a simple, classic portrait, shot with very little makeup, and I think it is very beautiful."

Miley did not know that the public would react to her photo in they way that they did and she was very embarrassed and sad about the reaction and the bad media coverage which started more rumors about Miley. She was very disappointed and sad because of the effect it might have had on her fans. Miley apologized for all of the things that she did that people had found offending.
