Miley tried out for the part of Lilly Truscott because she thought that she was not good enough to play the lead part in a TV series

It wasn't originally her show. Her dad just took her to the auditions, and she tried out for Lilly, because she didn't think she could handle the lead. But they kept telling her she was too young, but she came back anyways.
