When Muhammad was meditating in the cave of Hira, he was visited by the angel Gabriel, known in Arabic as Jibril. Gabriel conveyed to him the first revelations of the Quran, marking the beginning of Muhammad's prophethood. This encounter is considered a pivotal moment in Islamic history.
