okay, well Portugal was docking on Germany's harbors (short and simple) and they didnt like it...cause it kind of (in a way) protected Portugal, so Germany declared war on Portugal. if im wrong im sorry. im currently doing a project on this too and i was just looking it up but i found the answer on another site. sorry...i don't make sence sometimes. haha. but i know for sure that Germany DID declare war on Portugal though...and it had something to do with the harbor...Germany's harbor. okay...i don't want to comfuse you anymore...than i already have.

Daizy2637: okay...whoever asked this question wanted to know WHEN Portugal entered now WHY. but what you said WAS correct...i have to give you that.
Portugal was neutral until 1916 when increasing conflicts with Germany over its African colonies in Angola and Mozambique, and prodding from Britain, provoked war with Germany. Portugal sent troops to the Western front where about 7,000 died as well as to the aforementioned African colonies. Please see the wikipedia article 'Portugal during World War 1' for more information.
Portugal entered World War 1 as a result of Germany declaring war on the country. Germany did not like that Portugal was docking on its harbor.
