During the self titled album blink was at the HEIGHT of their career, they sold out arena's across the world. But Tom just had his daughter Ava. He had been gone for about 2 years and missed pretty much the entire pregnancy, and the first year and a half of her life. So he just wanted to go home and be with his family. Mark and Travis thought that would be a terrible idea to take a break right now. This made Tom really upset and he told them he just couldn't keep going and HAD to go home, then they said if that was his decision he would have to live with the consequences and so he decided he couldn't do it anymore and left for good. Then he started AVA

AnswerIn 1998, midway through a U.S. tour, Drummer Travis Barker, who was touring with The Aquabats on the same tour with Blink-182, later played the set because Scott Raynor had to leave for the day. After the set, Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge sat down and talked about Travis Barker joining the band. The next day he became a member of the band and replaced Raynor permanently. DeLonge left the group in early 2005, with the band portraying it as an "indefinite hiatus". DeLonge went on to play alternative rock in a band called Angels & Airwaves, while Hoppus and Barker continued in a similar genre with their band +44.

Tensions arose between Mark Hoppus, Travis Barker, and Tom Delonge because of DeLonge's desire for a half-year respite from touring to spend time with his family.

Also Hoppus' feelings of betrayal after the formation of Box Car Racer, (Delonge and Barker's experiment with record ideas they felt were not "Blink-friendly,") created further problems along with discussions regarding Blink-182's future recording endeavors.

After a cancelled tour of February 2005, the Blink-182's band manager called Hoppus and Barker to tell them that Tom had quit the band.

DeLonge confirmed that "Blink-182 was dead".

Mark and Travis wanted to go on another tour (their last tour was in Dublin) but Tom wanted to take some time to go to his family (older brother, younger sister) so blink 182 went on an "indefinite hiatus" when the manager called mark and trav to tell them that tom quit the band.

Tom wouldn't even talk to mark or travis directly, he told the managers things to say and the manager would tell mark and travis.

Tom went on to make AvA

and Mark and Travis still wanted to continue to create and write music, so they grabbed Shane gallagher and Craig fairbaugh and created +44

The reason they used "44" is because it is the international dialing code of Great Britain.

+44's next album is probably going to be delayed(travis barker got in a plane crash...he is still alive but he is recovering, also he has been released from the hospital)so don't be angry when it isn't soon.

If you have a question...well...you don't have one cause i just described everything...

Scott didn't leave, he was kicked out by Tom and Mark (other members of the band) The reasons he was booted was for being drunk all the time, not doing his part in the band, and not showing up for shows and concerts! Have you heard the song Man OverBoard by Blink182? It's actually about Scott leaving! Listen to the lyrics.

According to most people:
Scott had a drinking problem and was told to go to rehab by the rest of the band. He said he would go to rehab, but the other two members didn't believe him. At the time blink-182 was on tour with a band called The Aquabats. Scott was fired and blink-182 asked The Aquabats' drummer Travis Barker if he would replace Scott

Scott Raynor had a drinking problem so Mark and Tom decided to replace him with Travis Barker. The song "Man Overboard" is about this.
