Serbia and Montenegro.
Serbia was a part of greater federations with other republics called Yugoslavia. It is called Serbia since the middle ages.
They never did. Slovenia and Croatia declared independence from Yugoslavia first, which the Yugoslavia army opposed, starting a 8-day war in Slovenia and a war in Croatia lasting 2-3 years. Serbia didn't exist at the time. It was just a republic in Yugoslavia. Serbia became a proper country when all of the other republics of Yugoslavia had broken away and declared independence.
No, never! Serbia tried to stop other countries in path to their independence. Serbia loved Yugoslavia, but unfortunately for serbs other countries did not loved it, so Yugoslavia fell apart. And then Serbia tried to force, with agresion and wars, other coutries not to leave Yugoslavia! Serbs destroyed many towns and killed many people in that wars.
Serbia and serbs have much hatred.. (surprise, surprise) But i know for a fact that Albania and Albanians have a very strong hatred for Serbs, as do Croatians and Bosnians and other Ex-Yugoslavian countries/republics who have been through war with Serbia..

Serbia was controlled by Austria-Hungary for many years and they just wanted their independence just like every other country. They wanted to be free and have their own rules and government systems, not those that Austria-Hungary gave them.
Kosovo and Serbia are an example, as Kosovo has recently claimed independence from Serbia, which Serbia does not like. Another example is Russia and Georgia. The two have been disputing for a long time, especially over two unrecognized countries that claim independence from Georgia that Russia recognizes. A third example is Turkey and Cyprus. Northern Cyprus is yet another unrecognized country that is only recognized by Turkey and is disputed with Cyprus.

A series of revolutions from 1804 until 1815 forced the Ottoman Empire to recognize Serbia as a self-governing principality. The remainder of the movement to full independence would take from 1815 to 1878 and it proceeded gradually. The Ottoman Turks acknowledged Serbia's rights and borders in 1830 and 1833. In the 1860s, the Ottomans finally withdrew the last of their soldiers from Serbia. In 1878, the full independence of the Serbian nation was recognized by all her European neighbors.
