because as a prince he had never experienced it. he walked away from being a prince, leaving his family and kids behind. he did many things to find this out, and finally found it one night while sitting under a tree and medditating.:) hope this helps:) p.s. i litterally just finished learning about this 1/2 days ago in s.s.
