Professor Severus Snape is a major character throughout the series. He is the Potions Master at Hogwarts and takes an immediate dislike to Harry due to his likeness to his father, James, who used to bully Snape at school. Despite this, Snape does try to protect Harry and saves his life from Professor Quirrell when he tries to curse him off his broomstick.
SPOILERS Snape is mean (to Harry) as he hated harr'y dad and harry look's just like him but on the other side of harry family tree , snape loved lily and was secretly portect him and he ends up diying to save his ture love's only son. also he just don't like other people sometimes and hate gryffindors anyway
Because Snape was carrying a torch for (liked)Harry's mother, Lily. But Harry's mother did not know. So ever since James and Lily died, Snape had always loathed Harry.
James ( Harry’s father) made fun of him at school and James stole Lily (Harry’s mother) from Snape who loved very much
Dumbledore (or possibly Lupin) tells Harry the story of James Potter saving Snape in the third Harry Potter book, I believe.
Lily Evans and James Potter. I'm obsessed with the series. :)
Towards the end of the book 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows', Voldemort orders his snake Nagini to kill Snape. As Snape is lying on the floor taking his last breaths, he gives Harry memories that relate to his protection, conversations that Snape had with Dumbledore and memories showing how Snape fell in love with Harry's mother. Harry then viewed these memories in the pensieve and was forced to realise that Snape had been attempting to protect Harry and was acting as a spy for Dumbledore all along.
No, he loathed Harry to the very end. Everything he did to protect and help Harry, he did for Lily's sake, not Harry's.
No, he did not. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, you find out that Snape really wasn't a whole Death Eater. He was, in fact, a double agent. Snape worked for Voldemort as well as was a member of the Order of the Phoenix. Snape loved Harry's mother from a very young age, and in order to protect Harry after his parents' death, he took up the position as Dumbledore's spy on the inside. He died due to Voldemort's snake, Nagina, who fatally wounded him. Harry ended up respecting Snape when he found out the real reason Snape was so horrible to him- a) Unfortunately, Snape thought he looked (and acted) like James. b) If he pretended like he hated Harry, it would cause Voldemort to think he would help to kill him. He would protect Harry by pretending like he hated him. Voldemort wouldn't suspect anything. c) The most important one of all: Harry had his mother Lily's green eyes. That's why he stopped.
Severus Snape attempted to get Harry Potter expelled from Hogwarts on several occasions. Snape wanted to punish Harry for James' actions towards Snape. Throughout the years, Snape bullied, embarrassed and punished Harry. Yet, Snape also works with Dumbledore to protect Harry's life because he wanted to protect the son of Lily Potter.
In "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," during the Occlumency lessons with Professor Snape, Harry inadvertently glimpses Snape's past. This occurs in chapter 24, titled "Occlumency," where Harry experiences memories of Snape's childhood and his time at Hogwarts, particularly interactions with his childhood rival, James Potter. These revelations provide deeper insight into Snape's character and motivations.
