Stalin
USSR was fighting Germany alone and needed the second front for relief.
no they just didnt attack each other for a short time during ww2 because stalin(russian leader was not ready to fight hilter) and did not wanted a front war russia on one side and britain and france in the other.
There was already a war launched in the west. The British were fighting the Germans.
If this is what you meant, Stalin wanted the US and Britain to open a seccond front in the East to help take some of the pressure off of his troops.
Stalin's wanted to keep the pressure off of the Soviet, while Britain and United States wanted to damage other parts where Germany was until they got them trapped into the south by the Mediterranean, and have a full-blown fight there.
Germany on the eastern part, Great Britain and France on the west.
Initially Britain and France on one side and Germany and Austria-Hungary on the other. Later (after the disasterous Gallipoli campaign) New Zealand and Australian troops joined Britain. Also smaller countries that were parts of Britain, France and Germany's empires.
