He published Leviathan (1651) which was basicaly why a ruler should rule under an absolute monarchial or legislative body. It was like a social contract where the governed would not try to become too powerful, that is why there is ONE ruler whom would control the rest.

In Plato's Republic, Plato identifies his best choice of a person to rule a nation. As like himself, he believes a "philosopher king" who is benevolent would be the best leader of a nation.
Hobbes argued that it would take an all-powerful sovereign to suppress the desires of the people and create an organized society. In his time, most all-powerful sovereigns in the world were kings or queens, so that is what he advocated for.

Thomas Hobbes believed in a social contract theory where individuals gave up some of their rights to a governing authority in exchange for protection and security. He argued that an absolute sovereign, either a monarch or a strong centralized government, should rule to maintain order and prevent chaos in society.
As far as I understand he didn't belong to a political party, and what party he would belong to would depend on what country you are in, but if he did have a political affiliation he would be on the far right with the people who believe that a single entity should rule over all.
