Well, I wouldn't say he actually gave up his throne. It had more to do with the fact that he was dragged off it during the October 1917 Bolshevik revolution and had his throat cut or somesuch. He was dead, anyway, and so were all his family. Unfortunately, all the people got out of their revolution was Stalin, who made the Czar and any of his excesses look like a vacation in Hawaii. People feel sorry for the Jews. The Russians have had it at least as bad, if you ask me.

Who was the lasr czar of Russia?

The last Tsar of Russia was Nicholas Romanov II. There are some who claim that Nicholas II was not the last Tsar but that either his brother Michael was or his son Alexei was. These are non-sense. Nicholas II abdicated the throne in March 1917 in favor of his brother Michael, however according to Russian law, the title of Tsar was not Nicholas's to give to any person he desired. It had to go to the Tsar's eldest male child, Alexei. In any event, Michael refused to accept the title and was never crowned Tsar, so he was not the last Tsar. The title was by law supposed to go to Alexei, but the abdication itself was questionable. Alexei was likewise never crowned or acted as Tsar. The last Tsar was without a doubt Nicholas II.

The last Tsar of Imperial Russia was Nicholas II of Russia, formerly known as Nikolay Alexandrovich Romanov.
