WikiAnswers is not an office full of people answering questions, it is a loose global network of people who wish to answer questions which are posed here.

Is this question designed to waste time?
The only person that could say that is the person who asked the question. Other than the questioner's purpose, it is just another question that needs to be answered on WikiAnswers.
Why does wikianswers come up with the search and say it can't find my question when I want to post a new question to the site?
What it is doing is checking your question against similar ones, to see if your question was asked before. It also performs a very basic spell check, showing alternatives. If you're sure your particular question hasn't been asked, then you've got the option of adding it to wikianswers as a live question.

How can this be unanswered?
This can be unanswered by no one replying, or say if you asked someone question and they did not reply it would be unanswered because they have not replied to the question you asked them.
