William Penn was an English real estate entrepreneur and founder of Pennsylvania. He had very cordial relations with native Americans like Lenape Indians. He respected their culture and had never tried to displace them from their native lands.
Penn attended a Quakers (formally the Religious Society of Friends) meeting in England, was moved deeply by what he saw and heard, and joined them.
He gave the state it's name from his. Originally they referred to it as "Penn's Woods". In about 1737 he stole land (approximately 1,200,000 acres) in an unfair "Walking Purchase" from the Lenape Indians. The indians walked and William Penn had a team of runners.
