Zeus knew that Pandora was going to open the box which held all the bad things in the world. Zeus gave her that gift to get revenge on all humans because he was still mad that Prometheus stole fire from him to give tothe humans.

Yes, Zeus viewed humans as inferior beings and sought to control and punish them. In contrast, Prometheus had a more favorable view of humans and sought to help and empower them by giving them fire and knowledge.

It was the god Prometheus who gave the humans fire. He stole it from Zeus and gave it to the humans. As a result, Zeus chained Prometheus to a cliff where an eagle ate his liver and internal organs continuously. Since he was immortal, his organs grew back.

The Titan Prometheus has his liver pecked out every day. When giving gifts to the creatures of earth he went against Zeus' will and gave the humans fire. Having his liver pecked out was his punishment.
Prometheus helped humans (he gave them the fire of the Gods). This made Zeus cross and the then punished Prometheus for doing this in a terrible way.
