Anne Boleyn was beheaded (with a sword) because she did not bear a male child which Henry VIII wanted. Henry, also had tired of her and was courting a young lady in waiting- by the name of Jane Seymour! (Who gave him his first and only son who later became King).
There were also rumours flying around the Tudor social scene that Anne was a witch who had bewitched Henry into falling for her and she was having an affair with her brother as well as many others.
For treason and adultery. Although historians are convinced that it was not true.
