The legendary explorer Christopher Columbus went to North America as part of his attempt to discover a westward passage to the Far East. Setting sail on behalf of Spain, which had set its sights on finding a quicker, less expensive trade-route to the rich markets of the East, Columbus did not in fact succeed in his mission, yet his discovery of the New World opened up a new age in European and American history alike.
He was not looking for North America. He was looking for a new way to the far east. North America (actually more like Central America) just happened to be in the way.

Christopher Columbus explored the eastern coast of North America during the late 1400's. He was also one person to sail northwest to look for the North West Passage. Many ships sailed that way, but only he got far enough to find out that there was no North West Passage. and that is where he planed revenge on all his school recipiants whom ofwich sayed he is worthless and could not sail that fall with out being killed.
Christopher Columbus was proven wrong by Amerigo Vespucci because Amerigo had looked for signs but he found none. It had turned out the earth was bigger than they thought so they had to look farther than Marco polo had thought.
Christopher Columbus was supposed to look for a shorter route to India. But instead, he ended up discovering the New World.

it looks like nobcheese
Asia..but my theory is he was looking for indies which is referred to the South Asia region. If you look at the history it is Ceylon which has being famous for the spices (not India), and this was kept a secret because no one wanted anyone new to come and get the Spices from Ceylon. Unfortunately Ceylon (now Sri lanka), is in the shadow of the big neighbour. Ceylon has a rich history and culture.
You can go to Google images and type in Christopher Columbus. You will get alot of pictures of him I know that he had freckles on his face and was tall and thin faced.
