Why did god planned for christ to be born in such humble surroundings?

When we describe the circumstances of Christ's birth as humble, we compare earthly things with other earthly things that could be considered glorious and noble, but we consider him, "who, being in the form of God, counted it not a prize to be on an equality with God, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, yea, the death of the cross." (Philippians 2:6-8) are there any surroundings down here that would not be humble for "God manifest in the flesh" (1 Timothy 3:16)? Was not the very act or incarnation in itself, the greatest humiliation in the history of the universe? Indeed, there is absolutely nothing material here on this earth that's of any value to God, no riches, honor, fame or pleasure on this patch of dirt that could invoke in him the slightest interest. He had everything, he did not come to take but to give. He had the true life - he did not come to live but to die.
