Abraham either accepted that God would save Issac or raise him back for Issac was a promised child. If you recall God did not tell Abraham to kiss Issac, HE told him to offer Issac and as God has never been in the human sacrifice business there was no danger from the start. This was not a test for God, it was for Abraham and witness to Issac for Abraham came back down the mountain a man stronger in faith than when it ascended.

He was pleased for many reasons, but I believe the most memorable was when God told him to bring his only son Isaac to the top of the mountain to sacrifice him. Abraham was warring with himself if he should do it or not and the moment he was about to sacrifice his son, God stopped him. God was ultimately testing Abraham and he 'passed'. Another reason was that Abraham brought out the people out of Egypt onto Israel.

A:The Bible says that when God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, Isaac, Abraham readily agreed and set out to a high place with the intention of doing so. It seems that human sacrifices were indeed offered to God in pre-Exilic times, at least in the belief that he would accept them. A passage beginning at Judges 11:31 tells how Jephthah sacrificed his daughter to God. 1 Kings 16:34 tells how Hiel the Bethelite, the builder of the new Israelite city of Jericho sacrificed his two sons for the success of the project, according to the word of the Lord as spoken to Joshua. Another example is King Ahaz of Judah being criticised in 2 Chronicles 28:1-3 because he sacrificed his children. Abraham's promise to sacrifice Isaac was not an isolated incident where God was merely testing Abraham, but part of an established Hebrew tradition.

Some biblical references insist that the Israelites only made human sacrifices for Baal, whom we know to have been one of the pre-Exilic Hebrew gods, but this insistence was probably a late attempt to move Yahweh (God) out of the frame. The Book of Jeremiah denies that child sacrifices were performed in God's name, but Mark S. Smith (The Early History of God: Yahweh and the Other Deities in Ancient Israel) suggests that the vehemence and frequency of the book's protests really indicate that Jeremiah knew such sacrifices were occurring and was trying to bring them to an end. Smith says that Ezekiel 20:25-26 provides evidence that the Jewish people believed that God had made the Jews to perform child sacrifices through fire, to appease his anger: "Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live; And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the LORD."

God Tests Abraham's Faith Just imagine that Abraham in his hand has a knife and it looks as if he is going to kill his only son Most people would think that is a terrible thing that a father would do and why? Well before we answer the why, why not think how Abraham and Sarah got their son in the first place. Do you remember when God promised them that they would have a son? And yet that seemed impossible, because Abraham and Sarah were so old.

However, Abraham believed that God could do what seemed impossible. Let me tell you what happened. Its important to know that God made a promise, some time a year later, when Abraham was a 100 years old and his wife was 90 years old, in which they had a baby boy named Isaac. This proves that God had kept his promise! But when Isaac had grown older, Jehovah tested Abraham's faith. In fact, he called out: 'Abraham!' and Abraham answered: 'Here I am!' Then God said: 'Take your son, your only son, Isaac, and go to a mountain that I will show you. There you will kill your son and offer him up as a sacrifice.'

Now think about this, how sad those words must of made Abraham feel and it is because Abraham loved his son very much. And remember, that God had promised that Abraham's children would live in the land of Canaan. But no doubt, Abraham thought about this, and wondered, how could that happen if Isaac were dead? Of course, Abraham did not really understand, but he still obeyed God.

And when he did get to the mountain, Abraham tied up Isaac and put him on the altar that he built. And there it was in his hands a knife to kill his son with. But as soon as he was going to do it, he took out the knife and just then, the moment that God's angel called out: 'Abraham, Abraham!' And Abraham answered: 'Here I am!' 'Don't hurt the boy or do anything to him,' God said: 'Now I know that you have faith in me, because you have not held back your son, your only one, from me.' (Genesis 21:1-7; 22:1-18)

What do we learn from this? Well that Abraham certainly had great faith! He believed that nothing was impossible for his God, Jehovah, and that Jehovah could even raise Isaac from the dead. But as we know, that it was not really God's will for Abraham to kill Isaac. So God caused a sheep to get caught in some nearby bushes, and he told Abraham to sacrifice it instead of his son. This should be a lesson for all of us today. It takes great faith that soon that Jehovah God will bring an end to this wicked system of things on this earth and that soon he will reverse all the badness of what man has brought upon this earth. So do not give up this hope and keep praying for this Kingdom. (Matthew 6:9)

God tests a person in order to 1) make his/her righteousness known

2) bring out his/her perfection, from potential to actuality.

Because Abraham loved God so exceedingly, God rewardedhim by the tests, which added immensely to his perfection and closeness to Him.

What did God tell Abraham to do to Isaac and why did he have to do this?

As you may already know, Abraham and his wife Sarah, were both really old when they had Isaac. As a test, God told Abraham to sacrifice his son. If he had enough faith in God, he wouldn't have to worry about what happened to his son. Abraham took his son up to the altar and Isaac asked what they were offering. Abraham said, "The LORD will provide the offering." Abraham tied his son to the altar and prepared to kill him when an angel of the LORD appeared to him. He told Abraham to let his son go, he had showed his faith in God. Abraham had passed the test.

Why god chose only Abraham in the old days?

What was God's epiphany to Abraham?

An 'epiphany' is the sudden realization or comprehension of the (larger) essence or meaning of something. As defined above, the Judeo-Christian God does not have epiphanies - He helps we humans have them. So Abraham's epiphany was to know the great Creator God of the Universe.

Why was God mad at Abraham and Isaac?

If you mean why did God ask Abraham to sacrifice Isaac then the answer is that He was not angry with either of them. We don't know specifically from the Bible text why God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son but we do know that Abraham does not even question the request. If we read carefully however we see that Abraham likely trusted that God would save Isaac somehow and his faith was rewarded when God provides an animal for the sacrifice instead. Some scholars believe that Abraham was asked to sacrifice Isaac as a test of his faith but others believe that the entire incident was a powerfully moving demonstration of God's desire that human sacrifice not be performed to honour Him. Many of the surrounding nations practiced child sacrifice and here God makes very clear the fact that that is not what He desires from his people.

What did god promise to Abraham if he killed Isaac?

God didn't promise Abraham anything. God just told him to sacrifice his son Isaac and Abraham, being obedient to God, was going to do what God told him to do. That is until God stopped him. God was seeing if Abraham would still be willing to obey God even if it meant killing his only son.

An honest man is the noblest work of god?

It says, God spoke to Abraham and commanded him to take his son to Mount Moriah and offer him as a sacrifice to God. This was God's test of Abraham's faith. Abraham loved his son very much, but did not hesitate to follow God's words for he was a man whose faith in God was strong. As Abraham and his son reached the place where the sacrifice was to be performed, Isaac said to his father, "Father, where is the lamb that is to be sacrificed?" Abraham replied, "My son, God will provide the lamb". Because, Abraham was honest to his God, his son was also honest to his father Abraham.

Why did Abraham speak against God?

He didn't - He spoke for God and to God, but not against Him. He believed in God and God counted it unto him for righteousness. The book of Genesis tells Abraham's story and the Book of Romans speaks lots of Abraham's faith in God's promise and covenant.

Why did Abraham take Isacc to the mountain?

He took his son to the mountain because God told him to. It was a test to see if Abraham would obey God. Once there, God told Abraham to kill Isaac. As Abraham was about to kill Isaac, God said "Stop, you have proven yourself to me"!
